A cTrader workspace can carry chart and interface settings between computers when you sign in with the same cTrader ID, but the Web and Windows workspaces are separate. Save the layout you mean to keep, then verify the restored platform and account before using it.
What a cTrader workspace keeps — and what it does not
Spotware's workspace documentation says a workspace can hold charts and chart configuration, Quick Trade parameters, theme, layout, language, sounds, asset and symbol display settings, and in-app notifications. It can be used across accounts with different brokers and computers through the same cTrader ID.
That is interface state, not proof that a trading plan or an automated strategy is ready. Do not treat a familiar chart arrangement as confirmation of the selected account, symbol, order settings or cBot state. For execution behavior, use a separate checklist such as testing a cBot after restart.
Save the setup you intend to recover
Give a workspace a name that describes its job, not its mood: “London review” is easier to recognize than “New workspace”. Before switching away, check the charts, symbols and interface settings you expect to see next time.
cTrader says workspace changes are saved automatically when you switch to another workspace or close the application. Its documentation also states that workspaces created in cTrader Web do not apply to cTrader Windows, or vice versa. Keep those as separate setups; the shared cTrader ID does not make the two workspace types interchangeable. Spotware's instructions describe both behaviors.
Run a small restore drill
A recovery plan is only useful if its steps work when needed. Google's disaster recovery planning guide calls for a well-tested plan and regular testing. AWS makes the same general point in its disaster-recovery testing guidance: exercise the recovery path to find mistaken assumptions. Both documents address IT recovery, not trading software; the practical lesson here is narrower—check the workspace you actually saved instead of assuming it will appear as expected.
A simple, hypothetical check:
- Save a clearly named workspace in the cTrader version you use.
- Switch to another workspace, then select the saved one again.
- Confirm that the intended charts and display settings returned.
- Check the account and symbol separately; workspace appearance is not an account-selection check.
- If you also run automation, verify its state independently. Workspace recovery does not replace a cBot hosting and restart plan.
This is a visual and operational check, not a guarantee about broker-side settings, account permissions or order behavior. Those belong to the relevant account and platform controls.
Keep workspace and execution checks separate
Use the workspace to restore a viewing arrangement. Use a separate pre-session routine to confirm the account, instrument, order parameters and any running automation. If one of those matters, verify it where it is configured rather than inferring it from the chart.
realbacktesting is a trading-software studio for cTrader, with cBots, indicators and plugins; see the studio site and its cTrader setup guides. A saved workspace can make a review more consistent; it cannot certify the software or the account behind it.
Frequently asked
Do cTrader workspaces sync between computers?
Spotware documents using workspaces across computers and brokers when you sign in with the same cTrader ID. Confirm that you are in the same cTrader product: Web and Windows workspaces are separate.
Does restoring a workspace start my cBot?
The workspace documentation describes interface settings, not cBot runtime status. Check the cBot and its hosting environment independently before relying on it.
